The Capricorn Field Archers held their breakup on the weekend the 6th of December. Twenty six competitors battled out the day consisting of several novelties; a six target 3D speed round, relay shoot, water balance shoot and an axe throw.

With only 40 seconds to shoot the 3D’s, the first round was trying to adapt to the increased pressure of the club watching your every shot. Many could only get the goods on three targets before the timer. This is when Mark stepped up with his Black Widow recurve, successfully taking out the six targets. He then went on to bag another two more. The ante was increased with everyone else bettering the first round attempts.

The relay was a six team based event, with an objective of shooting a target 20m away using only club bows and arrows. This provided a lot of laughs as well as a challenge to sighted shooters, watching them try and work such a simple bow.

Getting close to midday and it was decided to have the final two events simultaneously. The water bottles were filled and set up on a pulley system. When an arrow passed through the bottle the water would then lighten the bottle, which would travel to the top. With some knock offs there was a winner found after very many bottles were destroyed.

The axe throwing event held a twist with it being played to knife throwing rules. With no one having thrown from the 5m before, it proved to be a real challenge. It was now 1pm and after the last throw it was lunch, followed by meetings and the presentation.
