August 2009
Eight members from Capricorn made the journey to Renegade Bowmens
club in Ipswich for the Queensland State Titles. This was an interesting weekend to say the least, we had a number of our
shooters returning home with places in the top 3 for their chosen division.
July 2009
Seventeen members travelled to Widebay Archers for the CQ Branch
Titles held on the weekend of the 25th and 26th July 2009. Ninety Six competitors attended this shoot, so the competition
was tough. Day one brought with it typical overcast windy rainy weather that is well known to regular shooters at the Widebay
club. This made it difficult of rthe carchers to clearly see the targets and judge the distance in order to execute the optimum
shot. Although the courses themselves were predominately flat, this in itself can at times be a challenge. Even with
the challenges of the weather and the ranges, there were some outstanding performances done by our members with a number of
them moving up the ranks to higher grades in their chosen divisions.
Even with temperatures expected to be as low as 2 degrees, eleven
members of Capricorn Field Archers travelled to Gympie on the weekend of the 4th & 5th July 2009 to compete in the
C Vs D shoot. Two days of shooting on 2 completely different ranges and with over 120 shooters from C and D branch
in attendance it turned out to be a big competion, in the end it was D branch who were the winners
of the trophy by just 1 point. Although the Capricorn Field Archers did come home with a number trophies, so well
done to all.
June 2009
A fun day of shooting was held on Sunday 21st June 2009 for the twenty
two archers who attended on the day.
The range consisted of ten IFA and ten 3D targets.
Archers shot two arrows at every target with both arrows counting
as scoring shots if in the score zones.
Scoring was twenty points for a kill shot and ten points for a wound
with a possible total of 800 points per round.
March 2009
The 7th & 8th March 2009 saw the Capricorn Field Archers range
come alive with over sixty archers competing in the 3D Branch Titles.
Archers travelled from all over Queensland to attend the two day
shoot.
Competition continued into the night with novelty events such as
a V shoot and a long distance shoot being held.
With the second day cut short, due to the threat of cyclone
in the local area the presentations got underway with winning archers taking home fantastic trophies hand crafted by
members of the Capricorn Fireld Archers. The trophies consisted of a polished piece of rosewood timber topped off
with a 3D deer for first, a 3D wild boar for second and a 3D fox for third. Well done to all involved.
February 2009
A number of our members sat their Bowhunting Proficiency tests on Sunday 8th February. More of our
members are becoming interested in the hunting side of our sport.
We held a grading round on Sunday 8th February as well. For some of our new members we have a couple
more of these to hold, to enable them to be graded for our first competition of the year, the C Branch 3D titles to be held
at our club on the 7th and 8th March 2008. To be able to shoot at this competition, you must be a financial member of ABA,
and nominate to the Branch Score Recorder, or send us an email.
